Our top 10 Fundraising tips

  1. Set up a fundraising page

Fundraising pages are an easy and accessible way to get your friends and family donating, as well as keeping them up to date with with any news. We recommend People’s Fundraising as they have all the tools you need for a variety of fundraising events, and take a smaller percentage from donations.
  2. Set a target

Data shows that those fundraising events with a target are more likely to get a greater amount of donations than those without one. So aim high and if you start to get near your original target incentivise people by aiming even higher! It’s all for a good cause after all.
  3. In it together

Fundraising as a team can make things even easier and give a boost with your chosen fundraising. Plus it widens your audience and you’ll have one another to rely on. So see if any friends, family or work colleagues want to get involved.
  4. Donate yourself
Donating to your own fundraising event can really motivate other donations. Data suggests that you’ll raise even more by doing so. Be the first and set things in motion!
  5. Share, share and share some more
Share your fundraising event wide and far. If you have a fundraising page even better. The more exposure the more chance more people have to see it and donate. Think Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and beyond. Give us a tag @footwearindustrytrust and we might share your hard work. Plus emails, donation sheets, texts and WhatsApp are all worth using too – especially for those not on socials.
  6. Go even further
It’s worth letting local business, shops, schools, your gym, your workplace and beyond know about your fundraising efforts. They might be able to offer sponsorship, the chance to put up a poster or may want to donate themselves. Some employers offer matched funding that’s a great extra boost for funds.
  7. Add milestones and updates
Milestones can further boost your fundraising and create excitement and further interest in the big event. Make them a challenge to add further incentive. Maybe you’ll wear a silly outfit for the main event if you reach 80% of your target. Maybe you’ll dye your hair or don a wig for a day at 20% of your goal. Maybe you’ll revitalise the water bucket challenge or bake something nice to share. Milestone add valuable engagement and updates. Make sure to add general updates too such as any progress you’re making or welcoming new people donating to your page.
  8. Give video a go

Videos and livestreams add another accessible and engaging way to get people interested in your fundraising event. Some find live streaming or videoing aspects like an update or milestone challenge an easy and fun way to keep everyone informed.
  9. Say thank you
Thanking people for their valuable donations is not only courteous, but helps keep people involved and interested in your fundraising event. You never know you might even get another donation from them.
  10. Remind after the event
It’s not unusual for some people to wait until after your event to update, so make sure you follow up with a little nudge encase it’s slipped their mind. An update thanking everyone for their support can act as a gentle reminder too.
